SOUTH BEND, IN (WSBT 22) - Demolition of the former Rabbi Shulman apartment building in South Bend has taken big strides.

The building is located on Western Avenue near Four Winds Field.

Demolition crews spent time gutting the building and already have one exterior wall torn down.

The city and Housing Authority plan to redevelop the site as well as Monroe Circle next door.

The goal is to bring in mixed-income housing.
